~ Wearable art that attracts light - and attention! ~
These beauties are made of multiple layers of art and dichroic glass arranged to produce sense of depth that is accented to achieve the metallic sheens and glows you see here.
Each piece is unique and no two are ever a complete match included the earring sets you see here. That's part of the fun of fusing with dichroic glass.
The pieces you see here each took between 4 - 8 hours to produce in my studio. I hope you enjoy them.
"Dichroic" is defined as the property of having more than one color, especially when viewed from different angles or from transmitted to reflect light. Dichroic coated glass is produced by a process called "thin film physics" and is generally referred to as a color separator. To get this effect, thin layers of metallic oxides, such as titanium, silicon, and magnesium are deposited upon the surface of the glass in a high temperature, vacuum furnace. It is this distance that causes a color shift. When dichroic glass is viewed at even slightly different angles, you will see a variety of different colors as you rotate it. So feel free to pick up a piece and be sure to look at it from various angles or place it on materials of different colors and watch the piece change colors before your eyes.
